Impact of a spiritual care program on spiritual well-being of oncology nurses
Study design:two stage clinical trial.
The sample consists of 70 individuals ( 35 person in each intervention and control group).
Inclusion criteria: Oncology nurses working in different departments with more than a year of experience in Hospital.
Intervention: In this study spiritual care program consists of 8 sessions of four relationship-based domains including relationships with God, self, others and the environment. The study tools include: demographic and spiritual well being (SWB) questionnaires. Spiritual well-being questionnaire includes 20 items, out of which 10 items measure religious well-being and the other 10 measure existential well-being. The range of the spiritual well-being for each sub-group of religious and existential well-being is 10-60. There is no classification for religious and existential well-being sub-groups and the judgment is made based on the obtained scores. The total score of SWB questionnaire is 20-120. The higher the scores indicate the better state of religious and existential well-being. The responses to the items are classified based on 6-item likert scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The level of the individuals’ spiritual well-being before and after the educational will be evaluated.
Data will do analyze with SPSS (version19) software useing chi-square test, independent t-test, paired t-test.
Control group: Two care training sessions will conduct in oncology departments for the control group.
Intervention will be conducted from February to March, 2017

Description
Intervention group: In the intervention group, spiritual care education will be conducted in 8 sessions and each session will take around one hour. Education will be implemented in the shape of lecture presentation and group discussion. The content of sessions consists of : First session: meaning and purpose in relationship with God, Second session: Faith and belief in relationship with God, Third session: meaning and purpose in relationship with self, Fourth session: Faith and belief in relationship with self, Fifth session: meaning and purpose in relationship with other, Sixth session: Faith and belief in relationship with other, Seventh session: meaning and purpose in relationship with environment and eighth session: Faith and belief in relationship with environment. Teaching methods that will use in this study include formal slides and lecture, along with a short description and the image that depict spiritual themes (the relationship with God, self, others, the environment), such as meaning, purpose, faith and belief in life. A group discussion will be also incorporated at the end of the session. Other strategies consist of spiritual readings ) derive from the Quran (, debate focus groups, spirituality labels, films and video clips (contain the main purpose of creation and the life, forgiveness to others, thinking beings and the environment), short stories) documenting the life of a teenager who lives with cancer (, role modeling, simulation, practice and activities in class.
