The effect of educational intervention based on a model of behavior change, integrated of Protection Motivation Theory and Implementation Intention for performing Pap test in women.
This study is an experimental type. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of one model of behavior change, integrated of Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) and Implementation Intention, in order to perform the Pap test in women. First, 240 women who are referred to 30 health centers of Tehran university of Medical Sciences having inclusion criteria will be selected and randomly assigned into intervention and control group (120 women in each group). Inclusion criteria of women were: be married; no having cervical cancer; no history of Pap smear and no history of complete Hysterectomy of uterus. Women with diagnosis of cervical cancer or complete hysterectomy of uterus were excluded.
Then, pre-test to measure Protection Motivation Theory items and Implementation Intention both groups will be done. After performing pre-test and analyzing the data, educational intervention will be designed according to the pre-test results. Then, educational intervention will be performed for the intervention group. Three and 15 months after the intervention, the effect of intervention in performing Pap smear will be assessed and compared to the control group. Finally, data would analyzed with SPSS (version 16).
